What program were you part of? How did you hear about it?

I joined the NYC Web Development Fellowship after hearing about it from one of the previous graduates. At the time I was in college, majoring in Accounting, but I found myself drawn to programming. Once I started learning on my end, it was all I did with my free time. Although I was teaching myself on my own, it was hard to know what I needed to learn. The Fellowship program gave me the structure and support I needed to learn. I didn’t realize what I didn’t know until I had the guidance of the instructors and even the alumni that came back to talk and encourage us throughout the program.

What kind of experience did you have with tech before training with TTP?

I was teaching myself how to program using online resources. I had a friend that I would often see coding and I asked about what they were doing. At first, it looked very intimidating. That initial confusion is what sparked my interest. I wanted to know more. So I started researching on my own and found some free programs online. By the time I first built a small project from start to finish– I knew I had found something I loved.

What are you up to today? What are some of your favorite responsibilities in your current role?

Today I’m working as a software engineer for a new start-up called Clark. I'm working with many different technologies and it's super exciting. There's always so much to learn. I love that the work is challenging and I get to try new things. And once the final product is shipped to production, its rewarding to see how I contributed to that.
